Management Solutions
GEMS
Alloptic's Gigabit Element Management System (GEMS) gives service providers the ability to manage their PON deployments effectively and offers them compelling and flexible platform that is ready to integrate into their chosen operational system. GEMS is a TMN-compliant application that offers a unified view of all configuration data relevant to Alloptic services. Based on a multi-tiered, scalable, client/server platform, GEMS provides consistency as well as synchronization between managed Alloptic GigaForce system physical and logical network resource data.
Carrier Class FCAPS Capabilities
GEMS is built upon a robust, TMN based architecture, and an industry leading database system to deliver a comprehensive suite of fault, configuration, administration, performance and security capabilities with unprecedented reliability and flexibility. GEMS is available in multiple sizes/capacities which allows a network operator to start small with a few hundred subscribers managed and to grow in increments to manage thousands of homes served by hundreds of access networks.
Precise Fault Management Capabilities
GEMS constantly monitors the networks for any sign of trouble and reports any alerts immediately to the GEMS operators. Utilizing graphical and tree view zooming, GEMS guides the operator to the source of the problem and provides a photo-realistic image of the device in alarm where the offending component or port is clearly identified. Clicking on the fault immediately displays a description of the fault. This, coupled with log file and inventory functions, puts the information needed for effective trouble isolation and management immediately at the operator's fingertips.
Enable Rapid Configuration of Topology and Service Mix
GEMS provides a set of management applications that enable an operator to quickly configure the access network topology and equipment. Network configurations, as well as the Telephony, Data, and Video services are managed using a intuitive Point and click Graphical user interface. Services may also be provisioned and monitored at a remote location over via an optional a northbound interface that allows individual service providers to manage select services directly without GEMS operator intervention. This flow through zero touch provisioning minimizes errors, improves responsiveness to customer requests and reduces the overall cost of offering services on the Alloptic network.
Future Proof Architecture
GEMS is a component-based Java application that makes use of the best of Enterprise Java Technology, including Enterprise Java Beans (EJB), Java Messaging Service (JMS), and Java Database Connectivity (JDBC). These standards, in addition to the TMN based object oriented software design, serve to provide platform and server independence, and enable industry standard clustering, load balancing and fault tolerance.
Scalable Multi-tiered Application
GEMS is a client-server-based application compatible with Sun Solaris and Microsoft Windows platforms that scales effectively to support hundreds of Chassis and thousands of PONs and ONTs per GEMS Server.
